Preaching
& Applying God’s Word
|
The proclamation of
God’s Word is central to worship at Grace Fellowship. The worship service is structured to
prepare listeners’ hearts and direct their thinking to the theme and
text being addressed from God’s Word on that particular Sunday.
The preaching ministry at
Grace Fellowship is systematic (i.e., there is a
weekly progression through a book of the Bible), and expositional/exegetical
(i.e., each sermon is drawn directly from the Biblical text).
Each sermon is accompanied by
a Sermon Guide containing
an outline for note-taking, and a series of questions for group
discussion/application and personal response. (Sermon
Guides may be downloaded on the Audio Sermons page.)
The preached Word is to lead
to personal response. We are to
be both hearers and doers of the Word (James 1:22). To that end, time following
the worship hour is devoted to application of the Bible passage. Sermon discussion groups consider
relevant applications and facilitate personal response to the Word of
God. Family homework suggestions
are provided
so families may continue their discussion and application of the Word of God
throughout the week.
